There are relatively few bank owned homes in Desert Mountain compared to other areas of Scottsdale. One of the reasons that there are so few REO or foreclosure properties in Desert Mountain is that it is a “mature” community. It did not have a lot of construction during the boom years of 2003-2005. In newer communities where people built homes at the top of the market and paid top dollar the foreclosure rate is much higher. Desert Mountain also is a much more exclusive community than others. The homeowners of Desert Mountain are generally very well off and market fluctuations do not significantly affect their net worth to the point of forcing a homeowner into foreclosure.
