Desert Mountain Club has gone through some significant changes in the past five years. The community has hosted special events, received awards, planned new amenities, and built new facilities.
Some of the top events at Desert Mountain during the past five years include:
2011: Members purchased Desert Mountain for $73.5M and developed the first strategic plan for the community for 2012-2015. A long-term contract was established with Charles Schwab Cup Championship, bringing the event back to the Club for years to come. Members also announced a long-term agreement with Jack Nicklaus and Nicklaus Design.
2012: The Jim Flick Golf Performance Center was built, one of the most advanced centers for improving golf performance in the country. 2012 was also the 25th anniversary of the launch of Desert Mountain, which was celebrated with the original developers, Jack Nicklaus and Lyle Anderson. The first two private trails of the Desert Mountain Trails System were built with voluntary member-donated funds. The first green initiative was started in partnership with IBM to conserve water, energy, and manpower through technology. The new starter station for the Cochise and Geronimo courses was built.
2013: The development of the long-term Jack Nicklaus Strategic Master Plan for Desert Mountain was formed. Desert Mountain also received the 5-star Platinum Club Award for excellence, an honor granted to the club each year since 2000.
2014: A central access site for all outdoor recreational amenities, trails, horseback riding, trailheads, and camping was constructed for The Ranch amenity. The 15-mile Desert Mountain Private Trails System was completed, along with Founders Club Memorial Way and two picnic areas. Desert Mountain’s market-based pricing and Membership Resale Program was developed to assist members to exit the Club due to age, health, and life issues.
2015: The first phase of the Sonoran Renovation Project to expand the center from 25,000 to 46,000 square feet was started in February 2015. Desert Mountain was ranked among the top private, residential communities in the U.S. It was also recognized as one of the most respected private clubs in Arizona by Platinum Club of America.
The growth, changes, and improvements are far from over. 2016 is an exciting time for members of Desert Mountain. In the year ahead, they will celebrate the grand opening of the Sonoran fitness center and enjoy new programs.
