Yesterday the Desert Mountain Club held their first, post-turnover, town hall meeting. Overall it was a very successful presentation from the board. They focused on the future of Desert Mountain and how they plan to enhance the club to benefit both existing and prospective members.
Many of the ideas presented are things that have been mentioned and ideas that members have been presenting for years but because of the club’s status they were never executed. The exciting part about the turnover is that the members now call the shots and more of their wishes will be granted. Some of these ideas include things such as:
- Technology Center
- Equestrian, Hiking and Bike Trails
- Horse Corrals and Stables
- Large Amphitheater for concerts
- Picnic and BBQ Facilities
- Enhancing the Amenities at the Sonoran Clubhouse
The idea that got the entire room excited and seems to be what every member at the town hall meeting wants is a more casual dining facility. The board talked about adding a Sports Bar and Grill to the Renegade Clubhouse. This would be a place where members can enjoy casual gatherings and watch “the game” on the multiple TVs or meet friends for drinks in a casual bar atmosphere. Based on the excitement of the room, I think that this should be the first project they start to seriously consider and plan.
