Changes to the Sonoran Clubhouse Renovation Project

Desert Mountain Club has released a new update on the Sonoran Clubhouse Renovation project. Member feedback and the recent cancellation of the Parcel 19 sale have called for a number of revisions to the original plans for the clubhouse. With a new budget and greater insight into how members prefer to use the clubhouse, Desert Mountain proposes the following changes to the project:

1. Second floor plans eliminated – Plans for a second floor with multi-purpose rooms and meeting space were not supported by the membership. Desert Mountain members place greater importance on the clubhouse’s day-to-day usage and were also concerned about a second level obstructing views.

2. Proposed Medical Center removed – Members have shown a lack of interest in the addition of a medical center at the Sonoran Clubhouse. Greater focus will be placed on expanding the fitness facilities and recreational amenities.

3. Size of planned café reduced – The café is a popular addition and will be a part of the new renovation plans; however, members have called for a more modest-sized café and have advised against overdoing it.

4. Maintenance building eliminated – Membership has decided that a new employee/maintenance building would be too costly and unnecessary. The existing setup will remain under the new plans for the renovation project.

Voting for the Sonoran Clubhouse Renovation is set to begin in November of this year. With the above changes, the project will include an expansion of the fitness center to 41,800 square feet, allowing greater space for fitness classrooms, locker rooms, the Youth Activities Center, spa and parking. Desert Mountain Golf Club will keep members informed on any new updates.
