Membership Trends at Desert Mountain

There is a clear trend that golf memberships at Desert Mountain are declining while the lifestyle memberships are increasing. As per the official Desert Mountain mid-year report (June 30th, 2017), the total number of Desert Mountain members is 2040. This is up from the 2016 membership of 2010. The additional memberships is partly due to the increased popularity of the Club Lifestyle memberships since the Sonoran Clubhouse renovation. The total number of golf memberships in June of 2017 is 1902. This is down slightly from the June 2016 membership total of 1930. There is a total of 152 Lifestyle memberships, up from the previous years total of 116.

This trend is typical at many clubs across the country. Private country clubs are evolving from golf centric clubs to promoting a wide variety of programming and recreation opportunities. This is evident at Desert Mountain. During the past decade, Desert Mountain has developed The Ranch with “glamping” and equestrian riding, 15 miles of private hiking trails and completely renovated the Sonoran Clubhouse fitness center and spa. The club also added several new activities including pickleball, bike tours and stand up paddle boarding. These are in addition to the dozens of other activities that have been popular at Desert Mountain. It truly is a multi-faceted club with something for everyone.
