Horseback Riding and Camping at The Ranch

The Ranch is a unique amenity at Desert Mountain. No other club in Scottsdale has onsite equestrian trail rides, luxury camping and private mountain hiking trails.  The club’s private wilderness area sets it apart from other clubs.

Horses are on the property Thursday to Saturday during high season. Members can schedule 60 or 90 minute horseback trail rides, equestrian lessons, round pen sessions, horsemanship lessons or sunset rides within Desert Mountain’s private area without ever leaving the club. There is even an adorable pony available for children or beginner lessons. Member services can also arrange special requests such as private rides, parties or alternate days of the week.

The campsite at The Ranch needs to be seen to be believed. The canvas tents are permanent structures that offer a unique outdoor experience. The interior of each tent has wood floors and furniture including a real bed to sleep in. There is an air-conditioned restroom, showers with hot running water, plush towels and chilled drinking water. Campers can gaze at the stars around the campfire before enjoying chef prepared meals. It is a special way to enjoy the outdoors with your family. It is particularly popular with visiting grandchildren.

The Ranch is also popular for Moonlight Hikes, Fireside Happy Hours and Sunset Yoga classes. I highly recommend a moonlight hike. Hiking in the Sonoran desert at night is an experience like no other.
