Desert Mountain Social Memberships Phased Out

Desert Mountain Club is in the process of phasing out the social memberships, also known as “Lifestyle” memberships. This membership category is now “closed” and is no longer being offered to new applicants. The only possible way to acquire a Lifestyle membership is through the purchase of a home with an existing Lifestyle membership. This is a very rare circumstance.

Many clients have asked why the Club is retiring the social membership. In my opinion, there are two reasons. Firstly, this will increase club revenues. The golf membership is much more expensive than the lifestyle membership.  There is a waitlist of applicants willing to pay the higher golf membership rate, whether they golf or not.  Demand is far exceeding supply and there has been little attrition from the club during the pandemic. Secondly, Desert Mountain will be increasing the exclusivity of the club by eliminating the social membership option and only offering the more expensive golf membership. It is natural that they want to move away from the less expensive members, towards those that spend more at the Club.
