Lyle Anderson, who was the original developer of Desert Mountain and Desert Highlands is developing a new resort in Scottsdale called The Reserve. It will be a “luxury eco-resort” located in the Troon area, just south of Desert Mountain Golf Club. The resort will have 324 units on over 200 acres located between The Golf Club Scottsdale and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The goal of the project is to protect, preserve and promote the natural environment and the ecosystem of its Sonoran desert. The company is now in talks with various hotel groups, operators and others needed to make the project a reality. Scottsdale City Council just unanimously approved the project. Lyle Anderson was quoted as saying “There is just no better piece of property in Arizona to do a spectacular resort and related residential than this site. In the long run the Eco Resort will help everyone appreciate what a wonderful Preserve Scottsdale, Arizona has.”
Lyle Anderson is known for environmentally-sensitive real estate developments. Desert Mountain was one of the first communities in Arizona to be built with a strong emphasis on preserving the natural features of the area. Lyle started this master planned community 20 years ago before building “green” was in fashion. Preservation and use of native vegetation, scenic vistas, natural area open space and hillside protection were key features during the development. It will be interesting to see how the new community takes shape. I am sure it will have many similar elements to Desert Mountain.
