Sports Illustrated recently named the Cochise Golf Course at Desert Mountain as the “Best Modern Private Golf Course Restoration”. Cochise underwent a 12 month renovation to enhance the golfing experience. The project included improvements to the grass, bunker sand, and drainage. The new modern irrigation system is state of the art and operates as a regulated underground system, allowing for single head watering. Combined with a new drought tolerant variant of bermuda grass, the members are raving about the playability. The practice area at Cochise Geronimo was also enhanced for member enjoyment. The practice facility was completely redone with the latest technology from Toptracer Range. This enhances everyone’s fun at the practice range, regardless of level of ability. Since the reopening in September 2024 the course has receive excellent reviews from members. The award from Sports Illustrated is icing on the cake and gives the club further national recognition for its 5-star quality of operations.
