Desert Mountain Clay Tennis Courts Renovated

Desert Mountain Club has just completed extensive renovations on their clay tennis courts. For those unfamiliar with the tennis center at Desert Mountain, there are 9 tennis courts in total with 3 different playing surfaces. There is a stadium grass court, 5 clay courts and 3 hard courts. The clay courts will generally last 20 years, so it was time for them to be replaced.

Courts 4 and 5 were completely rebuilt from the base up. 400 tons of material were removed and hauled away. New subsurface plastic liners were installed with a 6″ layer of washed concrete sand over the cells. Hydro blend was installed as the final layer. The new playing surface is 1″ deep of soft hydro blend clay.

If you have never played on a grass or clay court, now is the time. Both surfaces are exceptionally soft and put less pressure on your joints. Both types of courts are very popular with Desert Mountain members.
