Top 5 Things To Know Before Joining a Country Club

A country club membership is a significant investment. I highly recommend comparing Scottsdale golf clubs before purchasing a membership. Here are some items to consider:

Amenities

The amenities are vastly different between clubs in Scottsdale. Determine what amenities are most important to you. Perhaps you envision a retirement including challenging golf courses, fitness classes, private hiking trails, spa treatments, or wine tasting events. You can narrow down which clubs may be best for you, by deciding what type of activities interest you.

Financial Stability of the Club

When looking at a country club, ask about their financials. Possibly the worst thing you can do is buy into a club with financial instability only to regret it later. Most clubs in Scottsdale are very open and upfront about their financial reserves and debt obligations.

Review the Rules of Conduct and Contract Details

Becoming a member of a country club means obligating yourself a certain set of rules and standards. It is important to get a firm understanding of what will be required of you as a member. Monthly dues and annual food & beverage minimums should be considered.

Chat with Current Members

Getting opinions from actual members of a country club can be highly beneficial. Ask them for their feedback on the club and determine if it fits your expectations. Additionally, request a private tour and make an effort to speak to members of the community or ambassadors to the club.

Use a Knowledgeable Realtor

The real estate agent you choose to work with can make all the difference. Choosing one with both the experience and a positive relationship with the country club you’re interested in is incredibly important. A real estate agent who is knowledgeable about the club, can provide thorough and detailed answers to your questions and will be highly valuable when searching for clubs you’d like to invest in.
