The Membership Application Process at Desert Mountain

Desert Mountain Club has a very thorough application process for new members. Prospective applicants are told in advance that membership is not guaranteed and waitlists apply. Some of my clients are surprised at how detailed the membership application process is. Applicants need to provide multiple personal references. The application also asks for information about all previous golf club memberships. The membership department will contact all previous golf clubs to confirm good standing. Once the application is completed, it can take 30 days for the application to be reviewed. One of the final steps is an interview with the membership department.

The membership department recommends applying in advance of a home purchase. It is best to be proactive and start the application process as soon as possible. If you are pre-approved for membership before you purchase a home, the process during escrow is streamlined. This will also eliminate any concern about a membership contingency during a purchase.
