Desert Mountain Club has been working for several years on a sale of 97.74 acres, known as Parcel 19. The land is located north of Pima and Cave Creek Roads, behind the church. The sales price was $24,000,000 with a net proceeds of approximately $21,000,000 to the Club. The land will be used to build 150-190 new homes, an additional Clubhouse and a Short Game Golf Course for members.
The influx of new capital and the new amenities is a huge benefit for members. In addition, this will take pressure off the other golf courses and clubhouses during peak times, and provide a new casual golf venue for members. At build out, there will be up to 190 new dues-paying golf members which will further help the long term finances of the club.
The homesite and golf course grading will begin in November 2017. I’ll let you know as soon as the bulldozers are on the ground! The Short Game Golf Course, new home models and Clubhouse will be open by Superbowl weekend – February 2019.
The new Clubhouse will be the most casual and sociable of all the Clubhouses. It is being designed with an ulta-casual/social feel. There will be multiple outdoor gathering spots for socializing.
This is an exciting time for Desert Mountain. The 18 hole putting course at Desert Highlands is an extremely popular amenity. I am sure the Short Game course at Desert Mountain will be similar in many respects and just as popular. The Nicklaus Design Group will be involved in the design of the course. The new Short Game Course will be 2850-3050 yards. Members will be able to play an enjoyable round of 18 holes in under 2 hours!
