Moonlight hikes at Desert Mountain are extremely popular and attract a large number of participants. During the season, attendance can range from 20 to 30 hikers. The group gathers at the base of The Ranch trailhead in the northern part of Desert Mountain. It is precisely timed so that the group leaves the trailhead and reaches the Sunset Summit just as the sun is going down over the Western horizon. As the moon rises, they continue their hike towards the China Wall, ultimately reaching a stunning viewpoint on a peninsula. Here, they are treated to breathtaking views of 3 million acres of pristine desert behind them and the sparkling lights of a bustling city of 5 million people ahead. This experience is truly unique.
Desert Mountain members enjoy exclusive access to a wilderness preserve right at their doorstep, featuring over 3000 acres of hiking trails suitable for all skill levels. This exceptional amenity distinguishes Desert Mountain from other country clubs in Scottsdale, as no other club offers such extensive private mountain hiking trails. The trails are well-maintained and equipped with clear signage, recently updated by the Desert Mountain HOA. All trails are exclusively for the use of Desert Mountain residents and members. I strongly recommend participating in one of the group hikes. The dates and times of all group hikes are available on the member website and club app.
