You just purchased a new home in Desert Mountain so you can’t wait to move in, but how should you approach moving your wine collection?
A wine collection is far too precious to leave behind and it deserves to be displayed in your beautifully constructed wine cellar. Below are some tips for keeping your wine safe as it travels to your new home.
Step 1: Take inventory. Determine which wines are worth moving. It’s a good time to declutter and remind yourself of what’s in your collection.
Step 2: Purchase divided/cell boxes. These boxes will allow you to give each and every wine bottle its own compartment to minimize the likelihood of bottles breaking.
Step 3: Tape the bottom of the box. Securing the bottom end of the box with strong packing tape ensures that the bottles will not break through the bottom.
Step 4: Line each bottle with professional packing paper and secure tightly.
Step 5: Place wine bottles in the appropriate box and clearly label the box so whoever is moving it will know that breakable items are inside.
Step 6: Consider the time of year you’re moving your collection. Spring and autumn are the ideal times to move the collection so it’s not subjected to harsh temperature changes, which can alter the taste of the wine.
