Living at Desert Mountain is an extraordinary experience not only for the beautiful vistas, exceptional golf courses, and desirable amenities, but also because it fosters its own distinct culture that sets it apart. In an effort to maintain that culture, certain dress codes are established for all Members.
Country Clubs tend to be more casual in Arizona than in the rest of the country. After all, many members are here on vacation. The heat of the area also affects what dress is considered appropriate. Here is a break down of what to wear on the golf course and in specific dining areas.
Golf attire is welcome throughout the club, and required when on all courses and practice areas.
For men, proper attire includes shirts with short or long sleeves and collars or mock turtlenecks as well as slacks or mid-length shorts. Ideally, all shirts should be tucked in, and golf caps or visor brims should be facing foward.
For women, proper attire includes golf shirts, capris, slacks, appropriate length shorts, golf skirts or skorts, or tasteful golf-specific clothing. Again, golf caps and visor brims should be forward facing.
What is considered inappropriate to wear on the golf courses or practice areas includes short shorts, casual cargo shorts/pants, shorts or pants with protruding pockets, cut-offs, running and gym shorts, yoga pants, jogging suits, sweat pants, tank tops, racer-back tops, men’s sleeveless shirts, t-shirts, and denim.
For your comfort and for the benefit of the courses, appropriate golf footwear is required. A year-round soft spike policy maintained by the Club assures every course will remain healthy, offering the best golfing experience for all.
Wearing attire that is appropriate in a manner suitable for the occasion and the surroundings of the Club’s many dining areas is required. While appropriate attire is a matter of each individual’s tastes as well as the places they plan on dining at, the specific dress codes for each restaurant should be reviewed prior to arriving. These specific dress codes can be found on the member website.
Generally, there are a few items of clothing that should not be worn when dining at Desert Mountain. Short shorts, casual cargo shorts/pants or shorts/pants with protruding pockets, cut-offs, running shorts, gym shorts, yoga pants, tights, denim jeans or shorts, jogging suits, sweat pants, tank tops, racer-back tops, T-shirts, men’s sleeveless shirts, swimwear and beach sandals or casual flip-flops are not permitted in any restaurant other than the Sonoran Café.
Using good and reasonable judgment in regards proper attire at Desert Mountain golf courses or restaurants provides both you and your family as well as other Desert Mountain owners and guests a respectful and rewarding experience.
