Desert Mountain has spent $2 million on the maintenance of the Desert Mountain Parkway this year. The work done on the Parkway consisted of crack fill, seal coats, chip seals and slurry seals.
The Association has been planning and preparing for a total replacement of the Parkway in 2020. The estimated cost of construction could potentially total $6 million. In order to prepare for the replacement, the Landscape and Infrastructure Committee created a Streets Committee to analyze and consider what needs to be done to the Parkway and how it can be accomplished.
The goal of the Committee is to also discover, with the help of engineers and consultants, the best method to ensure as lengthy a life as possible for the new road.
While roadwork such as this poses an inconvenience to owners and their guests, it is necessary to add to the longevity of the road system, which typically have a useful life of 25-30 years.
