Update on Desert Mountain Membership Program

As you may remember from my previous blog posts, a new market based pricing program for Desert Mountain memberships started earlier this year. Desert Mountain is selling memberships off of its surrender list for a significantly discounted “market rate”. The list price for a Desert Mountain golf membership is generally $140,000. Under this program, some buyers have purchased memberships for as little as $65,000. The program is set up similar to an auction, with the buyer submitting a price that they are willing to pay, with a minimum of $65,000 to cover the transfer fee. Anything above the $65,000 fee goes to the member selling the membership. The “auction” occurs once per month and there is a $5000 deposit to for each buyer to participate.

In the past 5 months, 14 memberships have sold with prices of $65,00-75,000. The Club has not announced when this program will end. If you are considering purchasing a property, I would jump at the chance to buy a membership at the reduced rate, before the program disappears.
