Desert Mountain is excited to host the demonstration trail grand opening on the Northern Properties tomorrow, Friday, November 4th. An overwhelming number of residents have already RSVP’d so the activities and hiking trails will be open all day.

For those that have registered for the morning session, the hiking trails will officially open at 7:00 am. Breakfast will be served between 7:30 and 10:30 am. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 8:30 am. For those that have chosen the afternoon session, hiking will begin at 12:00 pm. Lunch will be served between 12:30 and 2:30 pm.

A shuttle bus will be running between the parking area and the trail all day. The first shuttle will pick up at 7:00 am and the final shuttle will be bringing residents back to their cars at 2:30 pm. Typically residents are encouraged to bring their dogs out to enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather but since there is such a large group expected, dogs and other pets will not be allowed at this event.

Desert Mountain is now offering a property check service to homeowners in the community. The new Desert Mountain Owner Services Business is being managed by the community association and will offer a property check service along with professional home inspections and light handyman work. Each of these services are for a minimal fee and are very convenient for Desert Mountain residents.

The home care service or property check service will send someone out to simply visit your home to ensure that everything is okay and being properly maintained while you are away. It can be very stressful trying to find someone that you trust to oversee things while you are gone but now your very own HOA will provide you with a very convenient check service. They will check to see that your landscaping and pool services are being kept up on as well as ensure that your trash bins are pulled away from the curb where they should be. They will also take a look around the inside and outside of the home to make sure that there is no storm damage or other items that need immediate attention. The cost of this service depends on the frequency that you would like your home tended to:

• Weekly: $40 per visit
• Bi-Weekly: $60 per visit
• Monthly: $100 per visit
• Quarterly: $200 per visit

The home inspection service will send a licensed home inspector out to do a thorough inspection of your home. They will check the electrical system of the home, heating, air conditioning, water pressure, etc. At the end of the inspection, a written report will be issued. Inspection costs depend on the size of your home:

• Less than 3,000 sq-ft: $300
• 3,000 to 5,000 sq-ft: $450
• 5,000 + sq-ft: $550

Light handyman services include basic repairs around the home, interior paint touch ups, drywall repairs, adjusting doors, light electrical work, light carpentry, etc. It will be $50 per hour plus the cost of materials.

Other communities such as Desert Highlands have been offering these services or years now so it is good that Desert Mountain has decided to join in for the convenience of their residents.

Desert Mountain Club has a fun night planned for the ‘tweens’ in the community. This Saturday, October 1, 2011 is Tween Night. There will be a dive-in movie at the Sonoran Clubhouse family pool from 6-9pm. This event is for children that are 9 to 14 years old and they are encouraged to bring friends. It is $25 per child and $20 per guest/ friend. This includes dinner, dessert, swimming and a movie.

Desert Mountain Club members have another fun Saturday morning planned. This Saturday, July 16th, is the farmer’s market tour. Members will meet at Constantino’s at 8:30am and then ride to the farmer’s market held at Roadrunner park in Phoenix. While there they will have the opportunity to discuss all of the benefits of using naturally grown food when preparing meals. After selecting a nice basket of the freshest produce, members will head back to Constantino’s to prepare a delectable meal with the chefs.

It is $55 per person and reservations should be made through member services.

It’s time for the Desert Mountain Club to host their summer Junior Olympics Camp at the Sonoran Clubhouse. It will be held June 27th to July 1st from 8:30am to 1:30pm and is $200 for the week or $50 per day and includes lunch. There is a sibling discount of 10%. Your child is encouraged to bring guests that are not members and if they do, you will receive a 10% discount.

The daily activities will include a variety of things such as golf, tennis, soccer, swimming, water games, arts & crafts and much more. This is a great way to keep your children or visiting grandchildren busy this summer. The Desert Mountain Club has a full schedule of events for its members in May. Below you will find a summary of some of the upcoming activities and tournaments.

• Golf Guest day is Monday, May 2nd. Bring a guest out to any of the 6 Desert Mountain Golf Courses and their guest rate will be 1/2 off.
• Bella Constantina is also Monday, May 2nd at 6pm. Enjoy this ladies’ night gathering at Constantino’s in the Chiricahua Clubhouse. It is $65 per person and includes fine wine and great food.
• Mountain Mania men’s member and guest golf tournament is May 4th through May 7th. This tournament is $650 per person and includes cart fees, tee gifts, tournament purse and food & beverage functions.
• Kids’ Night Out is May 6th at the Sonoran Clubhouse from 6-9pm. It is $20 per child and includes dinner with dessert as well as a variety of fun activities. They will have Mother’s Day gift making since Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Your child is encouraged to bring a friend to join in on the fun festivities.
• Dueling Pianos will be held on the Apache Clubhouse patio on May 6th from 7 to 10pm. Enjoy cocktails and entertainment from Jef Taylor and Ray Wheeler.
• Mother’s Day Brunch will be held on Sunday May 8th from 10am to 3pm at Constantino’s. There will be a variety of food for the whole family to enjoy.
• Ladies’ Day is May 10th. This week’s event is held on the Cochise golf course and the event will be “2 Better Balls of 4″. Each team will record their 2 best scores of the 4-some.
• Coyote Cup Invitational is May 11th through May 14th. This member/ guest tournament is $375 per person.
• Early Bird Tennis Social will be held May 14th at 8am at the Sonoran Clubhouse. It will be a great morning of mixed doubles and then breakfast immediately following.
• Casino in the Courtyard will be held at the Chiricahua Clubhouse on May 15th at 6pm. It is $95 per person and will feature a rat pack themed night of fun.
• Concert on the Lawn will feature a tribute to the Beach Boys on May 21st at the Outlaw Clubhouse. The reception will begin at 6pm, dinner at 7pm and then the Southwest Surfers will perform from 7 to 10pm.
• Memorial Day Couples’ Tournament will be held on May 30th on the Renegade course. There will be a shotgun start at 8am. It is $60 per person.

Easter at Desert Mountain is fun for the whole family. There are a few options when deciding on what to do this Easter weekend.

• Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held on Saturday 4/23 from 9:00 to 11:30am. The buffet will be held in the Sonoran Clubhouse dining room and is $28 for adults / $14 for children.
• Spring Carnival is also at the Sonoran Clubhouse on Saturday 4/23. It is from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. There will be a variety of games, egg hunts for all ages levels, face painting and much more.
• Easter Brunch will be held on Sunday 4/24 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse. It is $58 per adult and $20 per child.

April is a busy month for Desert Mountain Club members. This month there are several events and activities outside of the usual club gatherings. What a great way to bring the community together for Spring.

Below is a list of some of the upcoming member events and activities at Desert Mountain Scottsdale:

• Murder Mystery Dinner at Cochise Geronimo, Thursday 4/7 at 6pm. This dinner is going to be a lot of fun. As you enter you will become a character from the 1920′s and have to pay close attention to every detail and clue that is presented to you if you want to solve the mystery. It is $95 per person to participate.
• 1/2 Day Golf School at Renegade Golf Course is Friday 4/8. It’s $175 per person and the lesson will focus on full swing. To reserve your spot contact the Performance Center at (480) 595-4280.
• Drive-In and Car Show at the Outlaw Clubhouse is Sunday 4/10 from 10am to 2pm. Spend the day viewing custom and restored cars while enjoying the beautiful Arizona weather. There will be food and fun for the whole family.
• Western BBQ Night at the Outlaw Clubhouse is Tuesday 4/12 from 5-9pm. It is $19.50 per person. To make reservations call (480) 488-1363
• Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel dinner is Wednesday 4/13 at 6:30pm. Join your fellow members at the Cochise Geronimo Clubhouse for a night of great wine with culinary pairings. It is $105 per person. Call member services to reserve your spot.
• Food and Wine Festival is at the Chiricahua Courtyard on Friday 4/15 at 6:30pm. There will be live entertainment along with a variety of food and wine.
• Y Angels Charity Golf Tournament and Fundraiser is back again this year. There will be a dinner party with silent auction on Saturday 4/16 from 6-8:30pm at the Cochise Geronimo Clubhouse. Then on Monday 4/18  the Cochise/Geronimo golf course will be holding the charity golf tournament. There is a shotgun start at 12pm.
• Black and White Party will be held Monday 4/18 at 6pm. This is the first ever Black and White party at Desert Mountain and will be held on the Apache restaurant patio starting at 6pm. There will be cocktails, hors d’ oeuvres, dinner and live music with a stage concert at 8pm. You must be dressed in ALL black and white. It is $95 per person.
• Country Western Lawn Party will be held on Saturday 4/23 at the Arizona Grill in the Outlaw Clubhouse. The event starts at 6pm and there will be live entertainment from Mogollan.
