Desert Mountain Scottsdale has been ranked amongst the best of the best by GolfCourseHome Network. It came in at number 7 out of 10 for the best golf communities in the U.S.

GolfCourseHome Network started this “Best of the Best” ranking four years ago. This is the first time Desert Mountain has made their top 10 list. They base their rankings on awards received and major magazine reviews throughout the year. Desert Mountain received 6 awards and major magazine recognitions for 2011.

Desert Mountain Members Get Exclusive Charles Schwab Cup Ticket Packages

Desert Mountain members have the opportunity to take advantage of exclusive Charles Schwab Cup ticket packages. Each membership is allowed one Clubhouse/Member Pavilion badge at no charge along with one companion Clubhouse/Member Pavilion badge for only $75. These badges are good for the whole week. They allow access to the Cochise Clubhouse and the Member Pavilion that will be located on the 18th green of the Cochise Golf Course.

Exclusive ticket packages for family and guests are also available and can be ordered through the membership website. It is $125 for two clubhouse badges or $250 for four. Two Clubhouse/Member Pavilion badges are $250 or $500 for four. Each badge is good for the entire week of the tournament. There are also daily passes available for $50 per day for the Clubhouse pass and $100 per day for the Clubhouse/Membership Pavilion pass.

The Charles Schwab Cup will be held from October 29, 2012 through November 4, 2012 on the Cochise Golf Course. This is a huge event for Desert Mountain and just another reason to become a member of this very exclusive community.

Desert Mountain Golf Club is Hosting a Jack Nicklaus Media Event

The Desert Mountain Golf Club is very excited to host the Jack Nicklaus media event this coming Monday, December 12th at 2pm. The event will be held on the Cochise/Geronimo driving range. It is for club invited guests and up to 300 members that RSVP.

Jack himself will be discussing his future with the club as well as the upcoming Charles Schwab Cup. Both national and local media will be there.

Desert Mountain is Set to Host Amateur Golf Tournament

Desert Mountain is scheduled to host the 2013 Southwestern Amateur golf tournament. This is very exciting and a great opportunity for the Desert Mountain Golf Club to showcase their incredible courses. They have signed on to host 4 tournaments total on a rotating basis through the year 2016.

The Southwestern Amateur is the longest running tournament of it’s kind in the Western United States. It has been running every year since 1915. There were two years in there that they took a break during World War II but that is it. This tournament draws some of the best amateur golfers from around the world and it is a privilege to participate. There have actually been several winners over the years that have gone onto join the PGA tour.

Desert Mountain to Host the 2012 Charles Schwab Cup

The Desert Mountain Club Board of Directors was excited to announce this week that Desert Mountain will host the 2012 Charles Schwab Cup Championship on the PGA Champions Tour. A formal contract to that effect was just signed on October 6th.

The annual field for the Schwab Cup consists of the top 30 players on the Champions Tour, based upon a season-long, points-based competition. This significant tournament will be held on the Cochise course over the period of October 29 through November 4, 2012. These dates will coincide with our 25th anniversary activities and a visit from Jack Nicklaus.

Our contract allows for up to two more such Schwab Cup tournaments before the end of 2016, should Desert Mountain and the PGA Tour both agree that the added event(s) would be advantageous to each.

A formal public announcement of Desert Mountain hosting of the 2012 Schwab Cup will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. I am happy to inform you in advance of this terrific news. This will provide Desert Mountain with a huge opportunity to showcase the Club.

Details will be coming soon regarding member ticket packages, and ways in which to volunteer to assist with the 2012 Schwab Cup.

Desert Mountain Revised Golf Course Closures

The Desert Mountain Golf Club has been in a rotation for course closures all summer long. Due to a recent rain storm these dates have been revised and are listed below.

The Renegade golf course will reopen on October 15th instead of October 11th
The Chiricahua golf course will reopen on October 18th instead of October 11th.
The Apache golf course will reopen on October 25th instead of October 21st.
The Geronimo golf course will reopen on October 28th instead of October 26th.
The Outlaw golf course will be closed from October 25th to November 5th.

The Desert Mountain Mid Summer Member – Guest Tournament is Around the Corner

The Desert Mountain mid summer member / guest tournament is just around the corner. It will be held at the Geronimo Golf Course on Saturday, August 27th with a shotgun start at 9am. There will be two people per team and it is only $115 per team. This tournament fee includes the cart and buffet immediately following play.

Each of the member / guest tournaments have been a hit at Desert Mountain. Even though it’s been pretty warm, I think this one will be just as much fun.

Congratulations to the Desert Mountain superintendents, Shawn Emerson and Marc Snyder on their Deere Pro-Am title. They participated in the Superintendent Pro-Am on July 4, 2011 alongside Dean Miller of PGA West, Matt Armbrister of John Deere Golf and Morgan Hoffman a PGA Tour professional. Their net score of 50 gave them the winning title. It is great that Desert Mountain Club has such a strong group of golf professionals on staff.

Congratulations to the Desert Mountain Golf Club for having 3 of its 6 courses ranked on Golf Digest’s list of best Arizona courses for 2011. The Geronimo Golf Course was ranked number 15, the Renegade Golf Course was raked number 16 and the Chiricahua Golf Course was ranked number 17. All six of the Desert Mountain courses were designed by Jack Nicklaus and each have their own unique challenges and features for the members to enjoy.
