The Desert Mountain Golf Club is hosting summer Pro-Am events. These golf events allow Desert Mountain members to test their skills against some of the best Desert Mountain golf pro’s. It is only $40 per event to participate and that includes the cart fee as well as light snacks at the end. The first two events of the summer were a lot of fun so even if you missed those it is not too late to participate in this year’s summer Pro-Am series.

There are two upcoming dates:

1) August 27, 2010 at the Outlaw Golf Course

2) September 17, 2010 at the Renegade Golf Course

Each of these will have a shot gun start at 12 PM. Even if you are not a golfer, come out and support your favorite member. To sign up for either of these dates contact the tournament office at (480) 595-4130.

Desert Mountain continues to host many fun member events at the Outlaw Clubhouse. This coming Friday, April 16th, the “Concert Under the Stars” series will continue at the Arizona Grill with a Country Western Lawn Party. Mogollon will be performing at 6 pm. They are known as one of the premier Country Rock groups in the West. They bring great vocals, guitar and even dueling fiddles.

On Friday, May 28th, get ready for another great night of music and fun. The Scott Hallock Band will be performing their classic cover songs from Jimmy Buffet, The Beach Boys, Santana and many more. This will be a night out that will feel like you have traveled to the white sandy beaches of the Islands.

Another fun event that is fast approaching at the Desert Mountain Outlaw Clubhouse is the “Wholly Mole, Cinco de Mayo Fiesta”. The festivities will start at 6 pm and will feature the first annual “Desert Mountain Salsa Challenge”. This will give members a chance to show off their hottest cooking skills. Categories will include, best hot salsa, best mild salsa, best sweet & fruity salsa, and best overall salsa. The Arizona Grill will also be pouring samples of their favorite Margaritas and will have a tasting of the Corzo line of tequila. The buffet will feature Fajitas, Enchiladas, and some other delicious native cuisines of Mexico. To top it off, Miguel De Maria will be performing Spanish and Classical guitar. I can’t think of a better way to spend Cinco de Mayo.

Desert Mountain Club Members and their guests need to mark their calendars for C.A.R.E week! C.A.R.E. stands for Cancer Awareness through Research and Education. This nonprofit organization has been a part of Desert Mountain since 1998. Their mission is to raise awareness about the importance of breast and prostate cancer research and education. They have teamed up with the Mayo Clinic’s Research Center and have raised over $2.5 million.

The festivities begin this Monday March 15, 2010 with the annual golf tournament and the 2nd annual Pro/Am tournament. Each game will have a shotgun start at noon and will be held simultaneously on three of the Desert Mountain Jack Nicklaus Golf Courses.  Immediately following there will be an awards ceremony at the Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse. Get your friends together and bring out your foursome to take part in this very enjoyable charitable event.

The second day, Tuesday March 16, 2010, is dedicated to the ladies of Desert Mountain. There will be a Ladies’ Luncheon and Boutique. The boutique will be from 10AM to 4PM and lunch will be served at noon. Enjoy a delicious lunch and special guest speaker, Dr. Connie Mariano, who is a personal physician to four U.S. Presidents. Make it a girls day out with lots of shopping, food, and a reverse raffle with great prizes.

Wednesday, March 17, 2010 will be the final day with two great events to attend. During the day the annual Mary Henderson Bridge & Mah Jong tournament will be held from 9AM to 12PM at the Sonoran Clubhouse. This event is in honor of two of the C.A.R.E. foundation founders. Later that night the closing gala will begin at 6PM at the Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse. Get dressed up in your finest cocktail attire and attend the grand finale for great food, drinks and dancing.

Desert Mountain’s annual Turkey Shoot Out is coming up. No this doesn’t involve the Hunting Club…it is a golfing tradition at Desert Mountain. The weekend before Thanksgiving, members get together for a golf tournament and party.  Join us on Sunday November 22nd at the Chiricahua Golf Course. Shotgun will be at 12 pm. The entry fee is $60 a person and includes the cart. There will be a buffet and party following the golf at the Cochise Geronimo Clubhouse. Desert Mountain hosted their annual Expo on Thursday night. Every year Desert Mountain hosts this Expo Party for members. It gives the all of the restaurants in Desert Mountain a chance to showcase their food and remind members of all of the benefits that Desert Mountain has to offer. Being a Desert Mountain member is not only about the Golf and Tennis. There are many clubs to join  like the fishing club, hunting club, bridge club etc. There was a huge attendance of guests and everyone enjoyed many wonderful snacks. Everything from crab legs and oysters to wings and sliders. It was truly a great party that included any cocktail you could imagine. There was also wine tasting and a huge pastry and coffee bar. It was a great way for members to mingle with their neighbors and meet new members as well. This Expo was truly a class act. Desert Mountain always throws a great party.
