Desert Mountain is Set to Host Amateur Golf Tournament

Desert Mountain is scheduled to host the 2013 Southwestern Amateur golf tournament. This is very exciting and a great opportunity for the Desert Mountain Golf Club to showcase their incredible courses. They have signed on to host 4 tournaments total on a rotating basis through the year 2016.

The Southwestern Amateur is the longest running tournament of it’s kind in the Western United States. It has been running every year since 1915. There were two years in there that they took a break during World War II but that is it. This tournament draws some of the best amateur golfers from around the world and it is a privilege to participate. There have actually been several winners over the years that have gone onto join the PGA tour.

Grand Opening of New Desert Mountain Hiking Trails Tomorrow

Desert Mountain is excited to host the demonstration trail grand opening on the Northern Properties tomorrow, Friday, November 4th. An overwhelming number of residents have already RSVP’d so the activities and hiking trails will be open all day.

For those that have registered for the morning session, the hiking trails will officially open at 7:00 am. Breakfast will be served between 7:30 and 10:30 am. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 8:30 am. For those that have chosen the afternoon session, hiking will begin at 12:00 pm. Lunch will be served between 12:30 and 2:30 pm.

A shuttle bus will be running between the parking area and the trail all day. The first shuttle will pick up at 7:00 am and the final shuttle will be bringing residents back to their cars at 2:30 pm. Typically residents are encouraged to bring their dogs out to enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather but since there is such a large group expected, dogs and other pets will not be allowed at this event.

Desert Mountain Scottsdale Celebrates Oktoberfest

Desert Mountain Scottsdale celebrates Oktoberfest for the first time. This Saturday, October 22nd, the Arizona Grill at the Outlaw Clubhouse will host an Oktoberfest celebration. There will be authentic German food, German beer and a Polka band. Come out for great food and lots of fun entertainment.

It is $55 per adult and $25 per child (ages 5-12). The festivities start at 6pm and go until 10pm. Bring the whole family and enjoy a the night out!

Desert Mountain Club is Looking to Host Upcoming Charitable Events

Desert Mountain Club is looking to host upcoming 2012 charitable events. The Charitable Endeavors Committee is now accepting applications from members who may have some good causes in mind.

It MUST be a charitable organization. Non-charitable organizations will not be reviewed. They are also not willing to review events affiliated with special interest and political groups.

Applications are due by October 30, 2011. That is only 2 weeks away so get yours in today. The committee will be reviewing the submissions during the first two weeks of November. Once they have selected the events they would like to see approved, the Board of Directors will then review and make the final decision. Desert Mountain Members have plenty of activities to choose from in September 2011. Below is a list of some of the activities, special events and tournaments scheduled for Desert Mountain Club members.

Labor Day Couples’ Tournament is Monday September 5th. There will be a shotgun start at 8am at the Apache Golf Course.
Fresh Faces of Music will be held at the Apache Clubhouse every Friday in September from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Enjoy local, live music with great wine and food.
Summer Cookouts are scheduled every Sunday in September at the Apache Clubhouse from 5 to 9pm.
Junior Tennis Clinics will be held every Tuesday and Saturday starting at 10am at the Sonoran Clubhouse.
Kids’ Night Out is scheduled for Friday, September 16th at the Youth Activities Center in the Sonoran Clubhouse from 6-9pm.
Townhall Meeting is scheduled on Monday, September 26th from 3-5pm. Members can either phone in or attend in person at the Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse.

Scottsdale Country Clubs Team Up for Summer Tennis Socials

Five Scottsdale country clubs are teaming up for Summer Social Play tennis games. This is a great opportunity for members of various clubs to meet each other and try out different tennis facilities. Each club will take turns hosting the tennis socials every 5 weeks. It will run from 8 to 10am and there will be 40 minute rounds.

You will find the schedule below:

Carefree Resort – 20 people maximum. They will be hosting on July 14th and August 18th. Book reservations by calling (480) 595-3880.

Desert Mountain Sonoran Clubhouse – 32 people maximum. They will be hosting on June 16th, July 21st and August 25th. Book reservations by calling (480) 488-1397.

Desert Mountain is celebrating Father’s Day at the Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse this year. Members are encouraged to treat their fathers to a great breakfast between 7:00am to 12:30pm on Sunday, June 19, 2011. It’s only $18 per adult and $10 per child.

Come out and enjoy the great food, great views and great conversation. After breakfast you can even enjoy a relaxing round of golf. Sounds like an amazing way to spend a Sunday.

May is Another Busy Month at Desert Mountain Club

The Desert Mountain Club has a full schedule of events for its members in May. Below you will find a summary of some of the upcoming activities and tournaments.

Golf Guest day is Monday, May 2nd. Bring a guest out to any of the 6 Desert Mountain Golf Courses and their guest rate will be 1/2 off.
Bella Constantina is also Monday, May 2nd at 6pm. Enjoy this ladies’ night gathering at Constantino’s in the Chiricahua Clubhouse. It is $65 per person and includes fine wine and great food.
Mountain Mania men’s member and guest golf tournament is May 4th through May 7th. This tournament is $650 per person and includes cart fees, tee gifts, tournament purse and food & beverage functions.
Kids’ Night Out is May 6th at the Sonoran Clubhouse from 6-9pm. It is $20 per child and includes dinner with dessert as well as a variety of fun activities. They will have Mother’s Day gift making since Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Your child is encouraged to bring a friend to join in on the fun festivities.
Dueling Pianos will be held on the Apache Clubhouse patio on May 6th from 7 to 10pm. Enjoy cocktails and entertainment from Jef Taylor and Ray Wheeler.
Mother’s Day Brunch will be held on Sunday May 8th from 10am to 3pm at Constantino’s. There will be a variety of food for the whole family to enjoy.
Ladies’ Day is May 10th. This week’s event is held on the Cochise golf course and the event will be “2 Better Balls of 4″. Each team will record their 2 best scores of the 4-some.
Coyote Cup Invitational is May 11th through May 14th. This member/ guest tournament is $375 per person.
Early Bird Tennis Social will be held May 14th at 8am at the Sonoran Clubhouse. It will be a great morning of mixed doubles and then breakfast immediately following.
Casino in the Courtyard will be held at the Chiricahua Clubhouse on May 15th at 6pm. It is $95 per person and will feature a rat pack themed night of fun.
Concert on the Lawn will feature a tribute to the Beach Boys on May 21st at the Outlaw Clubhouse. The reception will begin at 6pm, dinner at 7pm and then the Southwest Surfers will perform from 7 to 10pm.
Memorial Day Couples’ Tournament will be held on May 30th on the Renegade course. There will be a shotgun start at 8am. It is $60 per person.

Desert Mountain Hosts the Y Angels Golf Tournament Again this Year

Desert Mountain is hosting the 7th annual Y Angels charity golf tournament and dinner party again this year. Tomorrow, April 16, 2011 will be the Dinner Party with a silent and live auction at the Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse. Then on Monday April 18, 2011 the golf tournament will have a shotgun start at 12pm.

One hundred percent of the charity proceeds will go to educational scholarships. This is such a great event and has been worth the cause every year.

Easter at Desert Mountain is fun for the whole family. There are a few options when deciding on what to do this Easter weekend.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held on Saturday 4/23 from 9:00 to 11:30am. The buffet will be held in the Sonoran Clubhouse dining room and is $28 for adults / $14 for children.
Spring Carnival is also at the Sonoran Clubhouse on Saturday 4/23. It is from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. There will be a variety of games, egg hunts for all ages levels, face painting and much more.
Easter Brunch will be held on Sunday 4/24 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse. It is $58 per adult and $20 per child.
