Sonoran Fitness Center Renovation Still On Track

­­­­­With Phase I of the Sonoran Fitness Center completed last year in December, Phase II is well underway to establish a new and improved fitness and wellness experience for Desert Mountain members.Desert Mountain AZ

There were several improvements added during the Phase I construction, including an expansive new fitness, training and stretching space, a larger Youth Activity Center, as well as new and improved gathering spaces complete with comfy chairs and sofas. Members can currently enjoy these features that have already greatly improved the clubhouse.

Phase II improvements are currently underway on the north building. Upon completion, members will be able to take advantage of new exercise classrooms, an enhanced spa and salon, family poolside locker rooms, and poolside restrooms. An additional exciting feature is the construction of a new quick-serve café with seating both indoors and outdoors and a menu serving healthy hot and cold menu items, bakery goods, and other offerings.

The second phase of construction is still on track to be completed by October of 2016. Once open, members can immediately start enjoying the new Sonoran clubhouse amenities, including a series of classes and workshops managed by the new Fitness and Wellness Manager, Via Gibson.

Outlaw Golf Course Schedule Change at Desert Mountain

After a thorough review of the Outlaw Golf Course, the reopening has been delayed until July 16thDesert Mountain

For those looking forward to playing the nature-focused, 176-acre course will have to wait due to the cool, dry weather in May and then the hot, dry weather in June with low humidity and dew point levels. These weather conditions have created less than ideal conditions for transitioning from the perennial ryegrass to bermudagrass on the course.

In an effort to assure two golf courses are always open for members during the summer, the Apache course will remain open until July 15th as well as the renegade. Outlaw is scheduled to reopen on July 16th.

Though Mother Nature has not been very kind so far late spring and early summer, the perfect playing conditions for Desert Mountain members achieved after the delayed reopening is well worth the wait.

The Owner Services Business (OSB) is available to all homeowners in Desert Mountain and features two incredibly helpful services: Light Handyman and Home Caretaking. The cost of service is $60 per hour with a 30-minute minimum.Desert Mountain Homes

OSB’s handyman, Rick Fields, has served over 400 homes in Desert Mountain during the past three years. His meticulous care when it comes to handyman work assures he will try to get the job done right. If there is a job that is outside of his scope, he will find a trusted provider to fulfill those needs.

The Home Caretaking service is a great way for out-of-state owners to have some peace of mind about their homes. OSB’s staff caretaker, Scott McVay, creates an in-depth checklist that can be completed weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Knowing that someone is on site in Desert Mountain to check on your home on a regular basis is very comforting.

Desert Mountain Trail System Expansion

One of the most unique features of Desert Mountain, which differentiates itself from other golf clubs in Scottsdale, are the private hiking trails. Desert Mountain privately owns hundreds of Hiking Trails Desert Mountain Scottsdaleacres along the Continental Mountains. The Club has created a sensational private trail system for its members.

The Desert Mountain Club and HOA are partnering to expand the trail system at the Ranch this year. A new multi-use trail was approved by the Trails Committee in January and is in the process of being built. A shorter hike than most of the other trails, the new Sentinel Trail connects Brangus Way to the Bronco Butte Trail. It is only about a mile in length, but the connection it makes forms loop trail that promises diverse scenic views across a larger area of land.

Two spur trails, paths that split off of the loop trail to take visitors to scenic areas, were created to allow for horseback riding to a few beautiful vistas near the Ranch. These trails offer unparalleled views for Desert Mountain’s members.

The Desert Mountain hiking trails are for the use of both hikers and equestrian riders. As always, please remember that horses have the right-of-way when you encounter them on any of the trails.

Desert Mountain Exit Transfer Option

Desert Mountain announced a new Exit Transfer Option (ETO) last month for those members who were interested in leaving the club. The new ETO was supposed to run May 16 through Desert Mountain Saguaro ForestSeptember 1st, 2016 or until it reached capacity of 150 members. There was an overwhelming response to the program and 195 members elected to resign from the club in the first 3 days! The Board decided to allow all 195 members to participate, instead of the original cap of 150 members. The ETO is now closed to further applications.

 

The ETO gave members a few options. The most popular option was to pay $32,500 as the transfer fee and leave the club at a future time of their choosing upon a 90 days notice. The other options included changing to a Senior or Lifestyle membership. Of the 195 members who elected to proceed with the ETO, 58 were already participating in the Membership Resale Program (MRP) and waiting to resign.
